With 40 years devoted to Suzhou embroidery, her works have been collected twice by Buckingham Palace and have won China’s highest award in folk arts—the Mountain Flower Award—on four occasions. Advocating the philosophy that “embroidery evolves with the times” and that the spirit of an era can be expressed through needle and thread, she pioneered the distinctive style of “Fusion Embroidery” and created a series of thematic works that embody the spirit of their time.
Her representative works include large-scale original creations such as Harmony—A Century of Olympic Dreams Fulfilled in China, Early Spring in Jiangnan, Such Magnificent Rivers and Mountains, Magnolias in Bloom, Splendid Yangtze River, Initial Aspiration in Full Bloom, and Setting Sail. She has held major solo embroidery art exhibitions at prestigious institutions including the National Art Museum of China, Shanghai Art Museum, and Suzhou Museum, becoming the first contemporary embroidery artist to present a solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of China.
Her works have on numerous occasions accompanied state leaders on overseas visits and have been presented as state gifts to heads of state and international dignitaries. They are also permanently held in the collections of institutions including the Great Hall of the People, Zhongnanhai, the National Museum of China, the Memorial of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the August 1st Building of the Central Military Commission, the National Art Museum of China, the Nanjing Museum, the China Arts and Crafts Museum, and Buckingham Palace.
Tempering artistry through craftsmanship, every stitch and thread follows disciplined artistic principles, refined with precision to lay out a vision of contemporary elegant living through exceptional quality.
